Springfield(MO) Steven Reed Founder of Citizen Group that was formed last year to Draft Steelman says Congressman Kenny Hulsulf should drop out or another words not file for Governor. Steven Reed and a group of Citizen Supporters made Statewide News back in 2004 when after a year long Draft Claire, (Citizens Supporting MCaskill for Governor effort started petitions asking Bob Holden not to file for Governor.

“There are some similarities her, but the main thing is Kenny Hulsulf has been in Washington and he needs to work to bring up a Washington Congressional Approval Rating of 22% before he comes back to solve Missouri’s problems” says Jeff Kenkel, Co-Founder of both groups. Springfield(MO) Steven Reed Founder of Citizen Group that was formed last year to Draft Steelman says that his group predicts the Carpenter Union will support Steelman for Governor. Reed had formed the Draft Claire McCaskill for Governor back in 2003. “I think it is important to point out that the Carpenters Union was a big factor and supporter of McCaskill in the Primary and the General elections in 2004.” Reed says.

The Power to the People thing Steelman is talking of along with support from various groups is something the Citizen Group feels will be big factors come this November.

The Carpenters’ District Council of Greater St. Louis announced today that it has endorsed state Treasurer Sarah Steelman, a Republican, for re-election next year.
Known for splitting its endorsements between the major politica, parties, the council said in a statement that it backed Steelman because she “has been a strong proponent for working people and has consistently supported issues that are important to Missouri citizens.”
Said Executive Secretary-Treasurer Terry Nelson: We don’t normally endorse candidates before the filing date closes, but we decided to make an exception in this race because Sarah Steelman has demonstrated the qualities we expect from our elected officials. No other candidate could supersede State Treasurer Steelman and the work she’s already done on behalf of Carpenters in the State of Missouri .”
“The Carpenters Council went on to point out that throughout her political career, Steelman has stood strong with working people, even when it has not been popular to do so. Steelman won acclaim from carpenters and many others around the state as former Chairman of the MHDC when she led the effort to address the problems caused by the use of illegal workers on MHDC projects….”
Said Steelman in reply: I am so proud to receive the endorsement of the St. Louis Carpenters. Most importantly, I’m so proud to be their partner in working hard to build better families, stronger communities and a better Missouri.”

Reed says “as someone who has promoted and worked with Unions for 20 years I can tell you with that kind of support and comments they (the Carpenters), will follow a candidate, meaning campaign workers money, word of mouth, etc.—maybe even attract other Unions to the Steelman effort. I think people are looking for leaders who really take action and do something” says Steven Reed.

WILL ANNOUNCE FOR GOVERNOR IN SPRINGFIELD TOMORROW

Republican State Treasurer Sarah Steelman will announce her intention to run for Governor tomorrow in Springfield.

Steelman will hold a press conference at the home of Tom and and Leigh Ann Hearne at 10:30 a.m.
